Spill

Golden Belt, Gallery 100, Durham, NC

2010

The work for Spill conveys a sense of futility and frailty with a sense of whimsy and humor. 100 Ways to Spill Water is a collection of 100 small wall pieces each perforated with a series of small holes.

These holes draw attention to the captured spaces inside each form while rendering each form incapable of containing water or other fluids. The exhibition refers to function, industry and mass production while also calling attention to the organic and hand-built nature of the forms. These pieces were conceived with the industrial history of the space at Golden Belt (a converted tobacco bag manufacturing plant) in mind.
